Mammals and birds in different ways. One difference is their respiratory system. Both mammals and birds have larynx. However only the mammals use it for the production of sound, instead birds have syrinx which they use to produce sound. Another difference in their respiratory system is, in mammals, exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide occurs in the alveoli while the gas exchange in birds occurs in the air capillaries.
